China Project: Phase I Project Output
The main theme of Phase I of the China Project was to conduct collaborative research to support bilateral knowledge transfer and mutual capacity building. The China Project has collaborated with various Chinese social work scholars in producing academic publications and books concerning the latest research and thinking on various aspects of social work in China. The main purpose was to nurture the development of social work education in China through knowledge exchange without imposing on preexisting perspectives and structures. Delphi Study on Social Work Curriculum and the published proceedings of the International Colloquium on Social Work Education in China are all manifestations of the collective effort of leading scholars in the integration of Western social work knowledge and Chinese experience in the development of social work in China. Furthermore, the China Project has a Visiting Scholars Program to provide social work scholars around the world an opportunity to further cultivate their knowledge by gaining exposure and access to new information and expertise.
